Inspired by the historical vinaigrette, the Sillage Vessel I is a contemporary scent container designed to be worn close to the body.
The vessel is long and rectangular in form, with a hand-carved geometric openwork grid along two sides—an architectural rhythm inspired by the work of Josef Hoffmann. A small opening at the top allows a touch of perfume or essential oil to be tucked inside, creating a personal scent that lingers softly throughout the day.
In designing this piece, I wanted to translate the essence of the historical vinaigrette into a contemporary vessel. Function was essential, but above all I wanted the object to feel sculptural, modern, and something you would reach for every day—something talismanic, yet disguised within minimal modern lines.
A piece that forgoes obviousness and instead invites curiosity.
Both sculptural and functional, the vessel draws inspiration from the purposeful adornment of 18th-century vinaigrettes while embracing a modernist language of proportion and texture.
The vessel is suspended from a delicate paperclip chain, adjustable up to 32" long, allowing it to sit close to the collarbone or hang longer along the body.
A small object with purpose—part adornment, part vessel for scent.
